Illinois, the Prairie State, is a place of remarkable contrasts, blending the soaring skyline and world-class culture of Chicago with vast agricultural plains, scenic river valleys, and charming small towns. Home to one of the world's great cities, Illinois offers extraordinary museums, legendary architecture, and a vibrant music and culinary scene. The state's rich history, from Abraham Lincoln's Springfield to the shores of Lake Michigan, reflects the enduring spirit and diversity that define the American heartland.
